I got interested in Peter Follansbee’s 17th century reproductions and carving and decided to take a quick detour down that road. The result is this box I made for my good wife and the carved contraption that keeps the rain from finding its way into my sister-in-law’s mailbox. Cool stuff and I like doing it so there will be more in the future (boxes, chests, etc). The mailbox shelter was originally roofed with riven beech shakes but that looked a little too rustic so I redid it with regular European house shingles.
